The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

Synopsis:

This is set in the 1920s on Long Island, near New York City. It is narrated by Nick Carraway, a veteran of World War I, originally from the Midwest, and rents a house next to Jay Gatsby and also is a distant cousin of Daisy Buchanan.

Daisy is unhappily married to Tom Buchanan, a millionaire but is still in love with Gatsby, whom she had a prior relationship with before Tom. Gatsby is also still in love with Daisy, and they begin to have an affair.

Tom is having an affair with Myrtle Wilson. Although Daisy is unhappy in her marriage and her role as a wife and mother, she chooses to stay with Tom over Gatsby because of the financial and social security her husband provides. Gatsby is ultimately murdered by Myrtle’s husband, George.

I loved this book and found it to be a very interesting book and thought-provoking.
