The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe

The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe

Synopsis:

This is a narrative poem about a grieving man who on a dreary, December, at midnight, is visited by a mysterious, talking raven. He is mourning the death of his beloved, Lenore, and asks the raven if he will ever find relief from his sorrow or be reunited with Lenore, and the raven says Nevermore.

Review:

I loved this poem and found it to be very spooky.

“Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary, over many a quaint and curious volume of forbidden lore. While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping, as of someone gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.”

“Wretch, I cried, thy God hath lent thee by these angels he hath sent thee respite-respite- and nepenthe from thy memories of Lenore, Quaff, oh quaff this kind nepenthe, and forget this Lost Lenore. Quoth the Raven, Nevermore.”
